Privacy policy

Last updated: 3 September 2026.

1. Who we are

allthesebobs.com is operated by All These Bobs Fan Site. It is an unofficial fan project, not a company invented for this page.

This site is published at https://allthesebobs.com.

Privacy, access, deletion, and copyright requests: jcblack33@gmail.com — also listed on the contact page.

2. What this site is

allthesebobs.com is an unofficial Bobiverse fan cartography and recap explorer: 2D maps, a timeline, and original paraphrases of publicly discussed plot. It is not affiliated with Dennis E. Taylor or his publishers. Using the explorer does not require an account.

3. Information we collect

We do not run an account system, membership list, or newsletter signup, and we do not sell mailing lists.

  • Hosting and delivery. Like most websites, the host, CDN, or reverse proxy that serves allthesebobs.com typically records Internet Protocol (IP) addresses, user-agent strings, timestamps, and requested URLs in server logs. That is used to operate, secure, and debug the site—not to build a marketing profile on our side.
  • Device information. Browsers send a user-agent (browser and OS class), language, and viewport size. Google’s ads and analytics tags, when enabled, may also see device type and similar technical signals as described in Google’s partner-sites notice (section 5).
  • Location. We do not request GPS or the browser geolocation API. Hosts and Google may infer a coarse region from IP (country or metro, not a street address) to serve the site, apply consent rules, and (where allowed) contextual or personalized ads.
  • On-device preferences. The explorer may store your spoiler / “read through” book cap in browser local storage so it can restore that choice. That value stays on your device unless you clear site data. It is not used for advertising. When Google Analytics is enabled, changing that cap also sends the book number (1–5) as an analytics event so we can see whether the control is used. It is not a name or email.
  • What you send us. If you email All These Bobs Fan Site, we receive whatever you include in that message.

4. Cookies and similar technologies

A cookie is a small file stored by your browser. Similar technologies include local storage, pixels, and device identifiers. allthesebobs.com itself uses local storage for explorer preferences as described above. We do not set a first-party advertising cookie of our own.

Third parties described in the following sections may set or read cookies on their own domains when their tags load or when you follow an outbound link. You can block or delete cookies in your browser; some features (especially ads) may then be limited or non-personalized.

5. Google AdSense

allthesebobs.com uses Google AdSense to serve display advertisements in the explorer dossier. They are labeled “Advertisements.” We do not use Auto ads, anchors, vignettes, or other overlays that could be mistaken for map controls.

Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user’s prior visits to this website or other websites. Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the Internet. You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings.

Google and its partners may use cookies and similar technologies to serve ads, measure how they are shown, and (where allowed) personalize ads using information about your activity on this site and other sites. Where personalization is not allowed or you decline it, Google may still show non-personalized ads that depend on contextual information such as the page you are viewing or your general location.

Typical advertising cookies on Google’s domains include IDE (DoubleClick) and NID. On this site’s host, Google may set __gads, __gpi, and related measurement cookies when ads run. The list is not exhaustive; Google may add or rename cookies.

How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services: https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites. Also Google’s Privacy Policy and How Google uses cookies in advertising.

When Google ads are served, we use Google’s certified consent management platform in regions that require it (European Economic Area, United Kingdom, and Switzerland), configured in AdSense Privacy & messaging. That CMP is Google’s product. It lists ad technology providers and purposes (IAB TCF) and is how we meet Google’s EU User Consent Policy for those visitors. Until the publisher enables those messages in the AdSense console, regional Consent Mode defaults keep ad storage denied in those regions.

6. Google Analytics

allthesebobs.com uses Google Analytics 4 to understand aggregate use of the explorer (which pages load, device/browser class, and a small set of in-app actions such as opening a dossier, changing map layer, or following an Amazon book link). Google may process IP addresses (GA4 truncates them) and set cookies or similar identifiers on this site’s host and on Google’s domain. We use this to keep the site working and to see whether people find it, not to sell a list of visitors.

Typical Analytics cookies include _ga (client id) and _ga_* (session). Explorer share URLs in the query string are not sent as page addresses, so a timeline tick does not create a new “page” in Analytics.

For visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland, Analytics storage starts denied under Google Consent Mode until Google’s certified consent message grants it (the same AdSense Privacy & messaging CMP described in section 5). Until then, Google may receive cookieless pings used for modeled measurement. Elsewhere, Analytics storage defaults to granted.

Google’s Privacy Policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy. Partner-sites notice: https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites. You can also limit Analytics via browser controls and Google’s Analytics opt-out add-on.

7. Amazon Associates

Some outbound links to amazon.com and to Audible include an Amazon Associates tracking tag. If you follow those links, Amazon may set or read cookies on Amazon’s or Audible’s domain and process information as described in Amazon’s own privacy notice. allthesebobs.com does not receive your Amazon or Audible account contents; Amazon does.

Amazon’s privacy notice: https://www.amazon.com/privacy.

Cookie, advertising, and sharing details continue in the sections below. Site rules are in the terms of use.

8. Legal bases

If you are in a jurisdiction that requires a legal basis under the GDPR or UK GDPR, we rely on:

  • Legitimate interests — to operate and secure allthesebobs.com, to remember your spoiler preference on your device, and to answer email you send us.
  • Consent — for Google advertising cookies, device identifiers, and similar technologies in regions that require consent, collected through Google’s certified CMP when ads are served (see section 5). The same CMP, when enabled, is also how Analytics storage is granted in the EEA, UK, and Switzerland.

You may withdraw advertising consent through the Google privacy message (once Privacy & messaging is enabled) and through the controls in section 10. Withdrawing consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing before you withdrew it.

9. Sharing

We do not sell personal information for money. We do not operate a data brokerage.

We share data as follows:

  • Hosting. Our host and any CDN see technical request data (IP, user-agent, URLs) in order to deliver the site.
  • Google. When AdSense and Analytics are used, Google receives the data those products collect, as described above and in Google’s policies.
  • Amazon. If you click through an Associates link, Amazon receives the information that comes with that visit (including their cookies on Amazon’s or Audible’s domain).

Under the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the CPRA, allowing advertising or analytics partners to use personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising can count as “sharing,” even when no money changes hands. We do not sell personal information for money. California choices are in section 10.

10. Your choices

  • Google Analytics opt-out. https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout
  • Google Ads Settings. https://adssettings.google.com
  • Industry opt-out pages. aboutads.info
  • Access and deletion. Email jcblack33@gmail.com or use the contact page to ask what we hold or to ask us to delete what we control (for example, an email you sent). We cannot delete copies held only by Google or Amazon; use their tools for that.
  • California — “Your privacy choices.” Use Google’s privacy message once it is enabled in AdSense Privacy & messaging, plus Google Ads Settings. We do not operate a separate “Do Not Sell or Share” toggle on this site beyond those controls.

We have not implemented Global Privacy Control (GPC). This policy does not claim that we honor GPC signals.

11. Children

allthesebobs.com is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (COPPA), and we do not treat the site as child-directed for Google advertising products. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we will delete what we control.

12. Retention

We do not keep a user-account database. Hosting logs are retained only as long as the host needs them for security and operations (a rolling window measured in days or weeks, not a permanent archive we mine). Explorer preferences remain in your browser until you clear them. Email you send is kept as long as needed to respond and for ordinary record keeping. Google and Amazon retain information according to their own policies.

13. International transfers

All These Bobs Fan Site may be outside your country. Google and Amazon are United States companies; if their tags load or you follow an Amazon link, information may be processed in the United States and other countries. Where Google ads are served, Google’s CMP and product terms address consent and transfers for that product.

14. Changes to this policy

We will update this page when the policy changes. The “Last updated” date at the top will change. Continued use of allthesebobs.com after a change means the updated policy applies to later use. Material changes to ads, analytics, or affiliates will also be reflected in the matching sections above.
